Ear, nose and throat doctors are also known as ENT physicians. They diagnose and treat a variety of illnesses that affect the ears, nose, throat, head and neck. Ear, nose and throat doctors may treat both adults and children. Their specialty is in treating disorders of the head and nasal cavities. One of the most common types of problems ENT physicians treat is a sinus infection. Other common diseases that they encounter include balance or inner ear problems, ringing in the ears, ear infections, sore throats, voice box problems, tonsils and post nasal drip. When choosing an ENT physician, look for someone with experience in the type of problem that you have. An experienced doctor will be able to more quickly and accurately diagnose the problem. They will also be most familiar with the possible treatments.
